Show don´t tell

We were learning To make inferences about a characters feelings.

 He suddenly looked in his bag and saw that his homework book wasn´t there. His face dropped as he started to tremble in fear because he was going to get in a lot of trouble for forgetting his homework book. Timo went to tell his teacher but he was so scared he couldn´t even blab out one word.

I found it easy to come up with the structure that I needed to have in my story because the Show Dont Tell strategy was really simple. 

I found it hard to find really superior words to put in my paragraph.

I really enjoyed the writing part because I really like to do writing.

Next time I need to make sure that im 100 percent sure about my writing structure.

B.bots with Matua Matt

 On Tuesday my class and I went to Matua Matt's classroom to do b.bots. We were learning about programming with B.bots.

First we went into his class and sat on the mat and waited for the fun to start. Then we got started. We grabbed a mat. Some of the mats were a space, a pirate mat, a shapes mat, and a letter mat.

After that we got into groups and we got a b.bot and went to find a spot where we could work. Then we had to programme it. Lana and I programmed it so it would go to the barn because we had a farm mat. 

After doing this for a while Matua Matt gave us a challenge. The challenge was that we had to get somewhere but we had to do it backwards after doing that it was time to go to lunch.

I found it easy to get to a certain place because it wasn´t very difficult.

I found it hard to get the programming right because sometimes we would press the wrong button and then we had to start all over again

I really enjoyed having to play around with it because it was really fun.

Next time I need to work on my programming skills.

The magic jacket

We are learning to use camera angles and editing to create a movie.

This week we have been learning about movie making using Wevideo. Wevideo is a site where you can video yourself and then edit it to make a movie. We also learned how to do different angles some of the angles that we used were mid shot, close-up shot and wide shot. We learned how to edit and cut out the parts we didn´t need. Some people put audio in their movies.

I found it easy to record what we were doing and our expressions.

I found it hard to get the timing right and to not delete the wrong parts that you need.

I really enjoyed the acting and that we could do our own videos.

Next time I need to improve on my editing skills and I need to work on the audio and the lighting.

My acrostic poem.

 We were learning about acrostic poems.

During week one of lockdown we did an acrostic poem about lockdown.

First we had a talk with the teacher about what an acrostic poem was.

After that we had to go to our drive and go into our writing folder and open a google drawing.

We had to name that drawing lockdown.

Then we had to type the letters down the page and then we had to write sentences starting with that letter, but it only had to be about lockdown.

I found it easy to write some of the sentences.

I found it hard to think of different sentences for each letter.

I really enjoyed the writing because it was easy and I really like writing.

Next time I need to add more language features so my readers are more satisfied with my writing.

Little red riding hood.

 Kia Ora this is my fairy tail that I did. I hope you enjoy.

Once upon a time there was a little girl named Georgia who lived with her mum in a little cabin.  Their cabin was wooden with glass shuttered windows and an amazing spruce door.  They liived in the middle of the bush.

One day her mother told her to take some fresh kai to her nan at the end of the woods. Her nan lived quite far away so it was going to take her a while to get there. She agreed to take the food to her nan so her mum started packing the kai for her to take to her nan. 

The mum spent heaps of time cooking and preparing the food so the only time Georgia could leave was at night. In the basket there was a fresh chicken,apples,oranges and a big pumpkin.

When she was in the middle of the forest she felt like something was watching her from behind. She turned around but nothing was there.

As she walked down the path a ferocious wolf jumped in front of her.She screamed in fear¨AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH¨.

The wolf said¨Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you're going to attract other humans¨.

 So she calmed down and started to walk again but the wolf went in front of her and the wolf said¨Oh no no no your not going anywhere i want some of your kai¨ Georgia said¨No this kai is for my nan and you are not getting any¨ the wolf said confidently¨You will give that kai even if i have to take it from you with my own two hands then Georgia said in confidence¨If you touch me you are going to end up with no hands¨ so the wolf ran away and Georgia thought that she was safe until she heard something in the bush she yelled¨ẄHOS THERE¨ then a bunny jumped out and then ran away she sighed in relief.She kept walking and when she got there she knocked on the door and no one answered so she knocked again and said¨Hello nan are you there¨ and in a creaky voise a lady said¨Yessssss come in the door is open¨ so she opened the door and walked in but when she went to see her nan she was gone.As she was standing there she could feel someone breathing on the back of her neck she screamed and ran out she could see a dark shadow following her in the dark she ran as fast as she could but when she; turned the shadow was still there.Then she tripped over a stick and she fell and hurt her leg she tried to hide behind a tree but then she felt something trying to grab her then she punched whatever it was and ran back home and she never stopped running until she got there and she never spoke of it again.

First we had to give a greeting.

Then we had to give a helpful comment.

And lastly we had to give a thoughtful comment.

T-Shaped literacy

 Kia Ora this is my T-Shaped literacy That I did this week.

For the first slide It was based on a video that we watched with the whole class.

The second slide was based on a book called Wheke.

My Digital Day.

We are learning about how we advertise ourselfs online.We talked about only posting things online that keep us safe.We learned how tagging photos and postsmake it easier to find out about someone,so we need to be careful about our posts content.

First we had to go on to our history and we had to pick a day that we would basicly recreate.Secondly we had to go to the first thing we went on in the morning.Then we had to find the icon of the site that we went on to.Lastly we just had to do that all over again with the other sites that were our history and then we had to blog it.

Octopus.

 Kia Ora the other week my class made these pretty poems.

Here is mine.

We were learning about language features.

We read the poem Octopus and searched the poem for different language features. The most common language features we found were verbs.

I found it easy to find verbs because they are action words and they are easy for me to find.

I found it hard to find adjectives because there weren't that many describing words.

I really enjoyed finding the language features because it was like a word search.

Next time I need to try and find more language features.

Matariki.

Smart Footprint.

 We are learning about our digital footprint.

We talked about private and public information.

I lerned that you can´t tell people your last name because they could get information about your personal life.

I already knew that you couldn´t tell people your address and your phone number.

Blake NZ-VR.

 Last term Blake NZ visited.We learnd about marine reserves.We were able to use VR sets to explore the oceans.I found it easy to learn about proected areas because the VR sets mode made it interesting and I hope we do it again.

Did you know that 0.37% of New Zealands oceans are protected.

Clickety-clack cicada.

We have been learning about language features.

Some of the language features that I found were metaphor, adjective, verbs, and onomatopoeia.

The poem we studied was called Clickety-Clack Cicada by Jill Brasell.

Some of the language features that I found were metaphor, adjectives, verbs, and onomatopoeia.

I found it easy to inspect some of the language features because some of them were quite obvious.

I found it hard to locate adjectives because sometimes I wouldn’t notice that they are describing something.

I really enjoyed the poem because I didn’t know most of the other words were language features as well so the poem taught me some new language features.

Next time I need to try to find more language features.
